Our Vision

  • We believe that peaceful solutions to domestic and international conflicts are possible.
  • We believe that people can choose to commit to work for peace instead of choosing violence.
  • We believe that, although the government can make treaties, people make peace.
  • We believe that if we don’t teach our children the power of peace, they will learn violence.
  • We believe the arts are a major means of conveying peace values and we will provide opportunities for every age to participate at Peace in the Park.
  • We believe that peace begins with personal transformation. An ever-increasing number of people committed to peace become a critical mass to create change.

The Peace in the Park Festival is the culmination of many months of peace education and activities. We subscribe to these peacemaking values and attitudes:

  • Respect for others regardless of race, gender, age, nationality, class, sexuality, appearance, political or religious belief, physical or mental ability.
  • Empathy - a willingness to understand the views of others from their standpoint.
  • A belief in the possibility of positive change by individuals and groups of people.
  • Appreciation of, and respect for, diversity.
  • Self-esteem - accepting the intrinsic value of oneself.
  • Commitment to non-violence, equity and social justice.
  • Concern for the environment and understanding of our place in the ecosystem.
  • Commitment to equality.
